Whiskey is a type of distilled alcoholic beverage made from fermented grain mash. A Pirate is a person who commits warlike acts at sea without the authorization of any nation. A whiskey pirate is someone who scours the back alley liquor stores for a bottle of Pappy thats priced at $49 and has a decades worth of dust on it.
My interest in all things whiskey started at an early age. When everyone was drinking vodka and white wine spritzers, I was fixating on old cocktail shakers and Martini sets. I would see these old shakers and glassware at garage sales and wonder why would anyone get rid of something so classic. I guess I was ahead of my time, or maybe just way behind the curve, who knows. But before Mad Men turned the Manhattan into a go to cocktail for many, and before Rye whiskey made its comeback, and before vodka ruined the Martini, I was asking myself, was I the only person stuck in the past? Was I alone in drinking a cocktail that my grandparents drank? As is very evident today, I am not alone.
More than just whiskey, my urge to collect, or as some would say, to hoard, has many outlets. Artwork is one of them. But there is also knickknacks, collectables, and oddities. Over many years of collecting "stuff", I have been able to acquire some interesting items that never fail to start a great conversation. Having a ample whiskey collection, and sharing it with friends also never fails to start some spirited and colorful interaction.
My collection is always growing, and I try to update this site as often as my purchases, sometimes there is a bit of a delay. So keep checking back often for new pics, new tastings and new listings.
